Project Overview

Objective

Explore the geometry and access requirements of a mounted bearing housing, with a visible distinction between support, mounting, and rotating interfaces.

Role & Responsibilities

Independent portfolio study focused on geometry, documented inputs, and engineering review.

  • Set the bearing and shaft interface envelopes.
  • Build the mounting base and housing-support geometry.
  • Inspect bearing access and the mounting-bolt envelope.

Source & Engineering Notes

Model Assumptions

Representative 20 mm shaft bore and 90 × 50 mm base envelope. Ring geometry, fasteners, split line, and support walls are simplified. No commercial bearing series or rated load is selected.

Design Workflow

  1. Set the bearing and shaft interface envelopes.
  2. Build the mounting base and housing-support geometry.
  3. Inspect bearing access and the mounting-bolt envelope.
  4. Define the additional fit, retention, lubrication, and sealing requirements.
  5. Document the expected verification for a real load case.

Engineering Checks

Inspect concentricity and component access. Final design needs a selected bearing, load and life calculations, tolerances, retention, sealing, and mounting checks.

Study Limitations

New representative design study. The 2024 archive label is illustrative and does not claim a completed professional commission or validated housing design.
